Why did my spring snap overnight with no warning?

Cold is usually the reason. This area sits in a cold-severe climate band, and steel springs get brittle in hard cold snaps. A spring that's been fine for years can go on the coldest night of winter because the metal simply can't flex the way it does in warmer weather. It's rarely a sign you did anything wrong.

Do you work on doors outside Port Huron itself?
